VCAP6-NV Deploy Exam

The information below is based off of the VCAP6-NV Deploy Blueprint from September, 2017. It may have changed so be sure to view the blueprint currently on VMware's website. Overall my experience taking the VCAP6-NV Deploy exam is that it's much better than the previous VCAP exams I took several years ago. It uses the HOL lab model, which means that using HOL to practice will make you comfortable with the environment. My biggest complain is about timing. I did not realize that the timing started the second I sat down, so I wasted too much time reading the instructions throroughly, rather than just jumping in to the exam. You also don't have a great indication of how much time you have left, as the timer on the lab kit doesn't seem to correspond to how much time you have left. When I ran out of time, it simply disconnected me. I wasn't clear if I had finished, or if there was an issue with the lab kit.

If you have additions or corrections, please email me.

Section 1 - Prepare VMware NSX Infrastructure

Labs

  • HOL-1803-01-NET - VMware NSX - Getting Started Module 1 (Click on Interactive Simulation Link at the bottom)

My Notes
There is no HOL Lab kit that allows for exactly these tasks. You can however delete a controller from any lab kit to go through the process of creating one. You can also log in to the NSX Manager VAMI (port 5480) and “verify” the NSX Manager connection to vCenter. In the exam you will not have to deploy the OVA.
