Troubleshooting NSX from the Web client

There are several screens in the Web client that can help with troubleshooting NSX issues.

Control and Management Plane Connectivity

From the Host Preparation Screen, I can check my Communication Channel Health to verify communication channels. Keep in mind if communication between NSX Manager and vsfwd is down, netcpa will be down, and NSX Controller to netcpa will be unknown.

  • NSX Manager → vsfwd
  • NSX Manager → vsfwd → netcpa
  • NSX Controller → netcpa

If there is a problem I can attempt a Force Sync, which will restart the control plane services. The catch here is that depending on which services have failed, the sync may not work, so you can restart vsfwd and netcpa manually from the ESXi host CLI.

Finally, I can check the status and configuration of all my VTEPs in the Logical Network Preparation Screen. If any of them are showing an issue, there is even a “Resolve All” button that will attempt to reset the configuration.
