Project Description

Create a portable Raspberry Pi that can function as a wifi hotspot and VPN server (Also serve up Calibre and provide other services.

Project Notes

Probably need a Raspberry Pi 2. The 3 draws too much power and I don’t think that the Zero has the needed interfaces. In any case the project should be configurable on any pi.

May want to use containers for the various apps to make them more portable.

Hardware

  • Raspberry pi 2 (zero may not be big enough, worth testing)
  • External HD (for library content, maybe just a really big SD card)
  • External wifi (for use as a hotspot)
  • External Cellular Adapter
  • antennas

Will need cell access, probably through a verizon hotspot adapter.

Wireless Access Point

If I can use the internal wifi adapter as an access point, this gives me flexibility to plug in either an external wifi dongle, or a cellular dongle.
